Los Angeles Angels vs Baltimore Orioles
By Justin Gonzalez
Pick: Angels -140
The last-ranked Baltimore Orioles continue their road trip on Saturday with a head-to-head showdown with the Los Angeles Angels. After taking game 1 of this series by a score of 8-3, the Angels are hoping to build a little momentum by knocking off the Orioles again ahead of a tough three-game road meeting with the Minnesota Twins. Sox. Right-handed pitcher Matt Harvey could go deep into the game on the mound when he pitches opposite of Baltimore’s Dylan Bundy.
The Angels are a bad road team, but the Orioles have been even worst playing at home. With the Oakland Athletics busy playing the Cleveland Indians and the Texas Rangers facing the Houston Astros, this is a great opportunity for the Angels to climb up the AL West rankings and ditch their last place spot.
Dylan Bundy is coming off a masterful pitching performance in an upset win over the Tampa Bay Rays, but that performance would ultimately fall in the anomaly category. The Angels don’t boast the same talent as the Rays, but their bats should prove efficient against Bundy, who is pitching a 7.82 ERA in the 12.2 innings he’s played in these head-to-head meetings.
As inconsistent as the Angels have been on the mound, the Orioles have been even worse. They currently have the worst combined ERA in baseball (5.52), along with the worst opponent batting average (.272) and slugging percentage (.516). Rain or sunshine, the Angels are taking the first two games in the series.
